HEALTH, SAFETY & COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR
FIELD OPERATIONS
FULL TIME, PERMANENT
In Office & Field Work, Emergency Call Outs
At NPS, we believe in being more than a numbered employee. We look for people who want to help shape a growing Northern company. We work hard. We support one another. We take pride in quality work and doing things the right way. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Compliance Coordinator to help strengthen our operational systems, support our crews, and ensure our company maintains practical, field-driven compliance across our operations.
ROLE
As the Health, Safety & Compliance Coordinator, you will lead the administration, coordination, and implementation of NPS health, safety, fleet compliance, and regulatory systems. You will work closely with ownership, supervisors, operators, and field crews to ensure safety programs are implemented effectively, documentation is maintained properly, and operational compliance standards are consistently met. This is not a corporate desk-only safety role. This is a practical operational role requiring field involvement, communication with crews, and hands-on coordination across active operations. You will serve as the technical backbone for Health & Safety and compliance systems while helping support operational accountability and organizational growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and administer the NPS Occupational Health & Safety Program in accordance with Ontario OHSA requirements and company policies while supporting practical implementation across field operations.
Coordinate and maintain company Health & Safety and compliance systems including workplace inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, employee safety meetings and engagement initiatives, training records, certification tracking, WSIB documentation, return-to-work coordination, and field-level hazard assessment processes.
Administer and maintain the BrightSafe platform including policy acknowledgements, inspections, corrective actions, documentation, and training assignments.
Coordinate workplace inspections across shop, yard, fleet, and active jobsite operations while supporting field crews and supervisors with practical implementation of company procedures and hazard controls.
Maintain fleet compliance systems using GeoTab including preventative maintenance scheduling, inspection tracking, equipment deficiency follow-up, commercial vehicle documentation, licensing and registration renewals, and driver qualification records.
Support incident investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, employee onboarding, training coordination, and ongoing employee engagement initiatives related to workplace safety and operational accountability.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years experience in Health & Safety, compliance, transportation, environmental services, industrial services, construction support, or related operational industries. Candidates must demonstrate experience implementing and maintaining Health & Safety programs within active operational or field-service environments and possess a strong understanding of Ontario Occupational Health & Safety legislation and practical workplace compliance requirements. Experience with incident investigations, inspections, corrective action management, training coordination, WSIB processes, fleet or transportation compliance systems, and regulatory documentation is strongly preferred. The role requires strong organizational and administrative skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and the ability to communicate effectively with both field crews and leadership.
TRAINING & CERTIFICATION
The following certifications and qualifications are required for this role:
Valid Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certification – Part 1 & Part 2
Valid G Class Driver’s License with clean Driver’s Abstract
Ability to travel to operational and client sites as required

WAGES & BENEFITS
This role is structured as a salaried position due to the ongoing nature of operational support, compliance ownership, field coordination responsibilities, and after-hours incident or operational support requirements. Expected compensation range starts at $65,000 annually, based on experience, certifications, operational background, and overall fit for the role.
